A small clarification

It was brought to my attention by myself that I mentioned in the previous blog entry that The Jesus Files had an influence on many, many childrens TV shows. It did but it was an unknown influence even by those who made the programmes. You see The jesus files have never been shown anywhere in the world at any time. Well it had a brief run in the 1962 at 3 am in the morning on the main TV station on the Pitcairn Islands. As no one had a TV this didn't do the show any favours.

The Jesus Files holds a fond place in my heart now. The shows none PC attitude towards telling the gospel is outstanding. Yes the frank nature of the show may be shocking or indeed "insulting and not fit for viewing" but there is something about that I find enlightning and feel the show to be from a more enlightend time. William Booth would have liked the show I am sure of it. And ofcourse we all know Jesus loved to laugh.

You see John 11 verse 35 tells us Jesus Wept. The man was very much human and what is more human then too laugh. When I am finally promoted to glory my first question will not be the meaing of life or why there was a sequal made to Daddy Day Care. No my question is simply this - did you like The Jesus Files. And I have a feeling he'll say yes.

The Jesus Files - how it all came about

Well hello my name is Richard Wright and I would like to talk to you about how I came to unearth the treasure that is The Jesus files. Well basically as part of my love of film I took it upon myself to look into film history. I came across a little known contemporary of D.W.Griffiths by the name of Sir Albert Thomas Winchester-Smyth III. He is very little known but considered to be an absolute genius. The Jesus Files is however not. By the time he in his 60's he converted to Christianity and was quite mad. He decided that what the world needed was short films about Jesus. These in retrospect where not short films but the birth of of Childrens TV. If a very strange, condemnation filled version of it.

He never used actors. he used voice over and each story had a moral from the bible. He really doesn't get the credit for influencing shows as varied as Robot Chicken and Mr Ben. I researched the man and discovered that these shows still actually where in print. So I tracked them down and am giving them to world as they had never previously been viewed by the public. As well TV really hadn't taken off when he made them.

There was a strong temptation on my part to remake these classic episodes but I have decided to let them stand as was. Genius and insanity. Quality ahead of its time and rather poor quality filming. So I will chart my life with the project on this blog. I will give you insight into the initial creating of the show and also what people had to say about the great man himself in this troubling time of his life. Thank you for your time.
